Jianqiu Xiao PhD, Chun Wang MD, PhD, Gabriel Mbalaviele PhD, and colleagues, published a paper in PLOS Biology in which they show that pyroptosis mediated by the pore-forming protein gasdermin D plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of a severe genetic autoinflammatory disorder known as neonatal-onset multisystem inflammatory disease.
