Clarissa Craft, PhD, Awarded a New NIH Grant

Clarissa Craft, PhD

Although not immediately obvious to many, nerves are present in bone and they do affect the skeleton in its response to systemic and local stimuli. Division faculty, Clarissa Craft, PhD, has been awarded a $272,000 grant by the NIH-NICDR to study key extracellular matrix determinants that modulate nerve growth in the craniofacial skeleton. She will also study how innervation affects bone remodeling in the alveolar bone, thereby advancing our understanding of oral health and disease. Congratulations to Dr. Craft!
