Research Interests
Her research interests include evaluation of the patterns of osteoporosis medication use across varying patient populations and identification of barriers to treatment of osteoporosis from the patient and physician perspectives. She has reported significant underutilization of anti-resorptive medications for osteoporosis in nursing facility residents as compared to people living in the community. She has developed a qualitative framework for understanding barriers to treatment of osteoporosis in the elderly in assisted living facilities. Using this information, she is interested in developing clinical protocols to more effectively bridge gaps in treatment of osteoporosis in high risk populations, such as the elderly in facilities and in hospitalized patients with osteoporotic fractures.
